Counting My Blessings

Ann Voskamp has written a book entitled One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are.  I haven't read the book (yet) but from the sound of it the book began just because she was journaling her blessings, gifts from our heavenly Father.  I invite you to read Ann's blog; it has been an inspirational blessing to me already!

Obviously, blogging is still a struggle for me, which means Scripture reading is too.  But taking a few minutes to write down, say, ten blessings a day, is doable to start.  And maybe taking that time will be incentive to take time and read Scripture more, too.

I have a beautiful journal, hardly used, that I will use for this.  Today's gifts:

~my beloved fiance' signing "I love you" across the cafeteria

~friends sitting with us for supper (another engaged couple)

~got my Shakespeare paper done on time

~it's warm enough to wear capris for the first time this spring

~I can hear birds chirping through the open window

~filled out paperwork for my new job!

~lots of clothes to wear (piling up on the chair)

~the stack of thank-you notes still to be written (from my bridal shower): so many loving, generous friends and family

~forgiveness of the sins of this day

~a beautiful four-year-old who smiled at and spoke to me.

  2. I don't actually have it here quite yet. :) My mom has it and I am the next to read it. But I follow her blog and browsed the website for the book yesterday.
